Cactus Ridge Blue Lakota
Lakota's Story & More Pictures:

Photo from BLM auction site.

Lakota is a steel grey Mustang gelding. He comes from the Twin Peaks HMA range in California. He was captured on 07/28/01 and sent to the facility in Wyoming. In the picture above, he is being shown as a "gentled horse" up for adoption by the BLM.
We've always wanted a mustang, one of the last living legends of the West. When we saw Lakota, it was the perverbial "love at first sight!".

On February 8th, we began our trip to get our BLM mustang! We travelled to Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, where the BLM has a facility. There were many nice horses, but our hearts were set on one. Lakota was in a pen with other geldings, waiting for the new owners to come pick them up.

The gentlemen at the facility loaded Lakota into the trailer without any hassle and we began our trip home!

When Lakota arrived, it was a very chilly day here in Texas. He was kinda nervous but he wasn't at all phased by the change in scenery. Our dogs all had to visit him and talk to him and of course, he had to sniff them too!

Lakota has made himself at home. We're really glad to have him! He is a gentleman.
Lakota has a floating way of moving, we think that he has a LOT of Spanish blood. This is evident by his stride and the way he carries himself! He has a lot of the Andulusian characteristics!
